4 simple ways to start saving money

We are living times in which we have to be extra careful with our finances, especially now that the winter shopping fever is in full bloom. I have to admit, that I am not a person that likes to save money. I always see something nice for me, or for the children and I think, why not? I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one, but I’m here to tell you that things can change if you really want them too.

At the beginning of this year, I promised myself that I would be more careful with my spending and that I will do my best to save some money instead of being on the minus and guess what? It actually worked! It wasn't easy, but I made it and I'm here today to give you some tips, so you can make it too. It's so important to have some extra money saved, you never know what can happen and when that money will come in handy, so start doing something today. You can do it if I could, then you can too!

Be careful with your expenses

You need to know how much you are spending each month in order to know how much you can actually save up. I keep track of each months expenses and if I have a little extra, I put it aside. It’s not every month the same amount, sometimes it is more, sometimes less and sometimes I don’t have enough to save at all, the important thing is to keep going. Little by little you will get there!

Look for alternatives

I know that having lunch in a nice restaurant might sound perfect, or having a cup of coffee in the morning at Starbucks, but what if you would change this and still enjoy a perfect coffee and lunch without spending so much money? Wouldn’t that be amazing? Well, you can! It’s that simple! You can make your own fresh coffee that you can take in a special cup with you to work. You can prep your meal at home and enjoy a lovely lunch with something made by you. It’s that easy.

I also decided to close my phone abonnement and I started looking for sim only deals. Why? Because in my opinion is the best option, especially if you want to save money. We are used to paying monthly mobile plans that include minutes, data and a monthly installment for a new handset. A SIM-only means that you only pay for the services without the handset, which means you save a lot of money.

Most of the providers, if not all, have SIM-only deals, so before you settle for one, make sure you check them all, you never know which one will suit your needs better. If you already have a phone number and you want to keep it, that is no problem, just mention that to the provider that you choose and it should be fine.

The possibilities are really endless.  It’s really more about will than anything else really.

Smart shopping

It took me a while, but I got the hang of it. The thing is that I know upfront what I need and I always look for that item when it’s on sale. That way I saved a lot of money and I got myself some lovely pieces with even 70% off. I always buy in summer for winter because that’s when I find the best deals and vice versa. Just the other day I bought myself a pair of gorgeous sandals for summer at a really small price. If that’s not smart shopping I don’t know what is!

Maybe my tips are not new to you, maybe you knew them yourself, but what I want you to know is that they work! I managed to save this year more than I thought I would and you can’t even imagine what a great feeling it is. Do you have other money-saving tips for me? I would love to find out your tips and tricks, so don’t be shy!
