LOOKING AFTER YOUR SKIN IN SUMMER

We all know how lovely it is to feel the sun on your skin and in summer it’s nicer than ever to spend days outside soaking up the rays. But, the sun can really be damaging to your skin, causing wrinkles, premature aging, dry skin, marks and even in the worst case, skin cancer. So, it’s really important that you look after yours. Here are some tips for looking after your skin in summer to help you protect yours:

Wear SPF

The most important way to protect your skin in summer is by wearing SPF. Sunscreen protects your skin from the harmful UV rays giving you a layer of protection. It’s important to make sure you always wear sunscreen when out in the sun and take extra care in areas where the skin is particularly delicate such as the face, neck, and chest. Wearing a higher factor in these areas is recommended to give the skin extra protection. Many beauty brands offer foundation and BB creams which include SPF, so check yours to make sure you’re looking after your skin on a daily basis.

 Drink Water

One of the best ways to look after your skin is to make sure you’re drinking enough water. It’s recommended that you drink around 2 liters of water per day, so if you’re used to doing this, up your water intake in summer to compensate for the amount of water your body loses whilst sweating. Drinking water is the best way to keep skin looking healthy, elasticated and fresh, plus it also helps to rid skin of nasty blemishes and spots.

 Always Moisturise

Extreme temperatures can really impact your skin making it dry and flaky. The heat can really dry out your skin leaving it lacking in moisture so using a more intensive moisturizer, especially at night in the hotter months is recommended to keep it feeling soft and supple. Try using a face mask on your face before moisturizing to cleanse pores as excessive sweating in summer can cause them to clog, then apply a really intensive moisturizer overnight to penetrate the deeper layers of skin. An all-over body moisturizes should concentrate on generally drier areas including elbows, knees, and heels. I usually prefer Nivea because it’s a prestigious brand and their products never disappointed me.

Looking after your skin in summer is hugely important and should be taken seriously to ensure you
look great and stay healthy. By following these tips you’ll have a gorgeous glowing complexion all year round.
