While there is no such thing as the perfect home, it is possible to create the perfect home for you. It doesn’t matter if you live in a one-bedroom flat or a multi-bedroom mansion, there are various interior design tricks that can help you create a comfortable, practical and stylish space.

If your property is in need of a little TLC, here are some simple ways to give it a makeover.

Declutter

I know our busy life doesn't allow us to thoroughly clean our home's as much as we want to, but from time to time a good declutter is necessary. Am I right? You'd be surprised by the things you may find, things that probably you even forgot you had, things that maybe you don't need anymore and that just lay around your home making it messy and crowded.

Don't rush it, try to take your time and sort all your things out. Throw away what needs to be thrown away, donate what can be used and give your home a fresh start.

Breathe Life into Your Home with Plants

Plants are the perfect addition to any room within the home, as they can breathe life into a small or large space. Attractive plants will quickly become a focal point in your home, as they can add both colour and texture into any interior design. Many can also balance humidity and purify household air, so your home will continually feel fresh and clean.

Focus on Your Accents

Little details can make a massive difference to your interior design. If you want to create a show-stopping home that will impress every guest that steps through your door, it might be time to update your accents. For example, replace your worn doorknobs with new stylish door handles, which will prove you have exceptional attention to detail and that you keep up with the trends.

Or, you can give up your old curtains and replace them with some modern made to measure blinds, you would be surprised by the difference!

Create the Illusion of Space in Small Rooms

Small rooms can be tricky for homeowners, as they can often appear dark and cramped. However, introducing a few interior design tricks can help you to create a more spacious, airy room.

For example, decorate a room in a soft, light colour scheme, install larger windows and hang mirrors to create the illusion of more space. Also, avoid using dark colours at all costs, they can make a room appear smaller than it is and that's not what you want.

Buy Wicker Baskets

If you often find all sorts of loose items dotted across your living room, bedroom, or hallway, you would be wise to invest in some wicker baskets. Not only are they economical, but they are an elegant way to increase storage in rooms across the home. The beautiful baskets can complement almost any interior design and are ideal for storing books, toys, magazines and blankets.

Change Your Lighting

Many people carefully choose their furniture, paint colours and accessories when redecorating their home, but fail to consider the influence lighting can have on a space. If you want to make your house a beautiful home, it might be time to replace your lighting. For example, add warmth to your kitchen by installing spotlights, or install a dimmer in your bedroom to emit a soft glow before you go to bed.

These are just a few tips & tricks that don't break the bank and that helped me give a fresh look to my home. If you have other tips, I would love to read them in the comments below.
