 I started blogging almost 10 years ago when blogging was considered nothing but a hobby. Well, come to think of it, I also looked at it that way and never have I ever dreamed of making it my full-time job, yet here we are fast forward in 2021 where things are completely different.

I think you all can agree with me when I say that in the last two years social media and influencer culture have reached their all-time high. Almost everyone has a blog or a social media channel where they share their passion with their audience. 

Before we go on, I think it's best to give you a short definition of the terms blogger and influencer. That way you can have a better idea of what I'm talking about and also think which one is best for you.

A blogger is a person that writes articles/posts on a website. You can write about your hobbies, interests, opinions and so on. 

An influencer is a person that has the power to "influence" people through social media. You can be an influencer if you own a blog, but this is not a must. There are so many social media channels available at the moment and having a big audience there will also provide you with this status.

The key to a strong online influence today is building a strong and powerful profile. Knowing your stuff and highlighting your experience online in an engaging way will help you build your audience and can give your social media profile a serious boost.

How to achieve that, you might ask yourself. Well, it's not easy but if you've got the passion and determination to make it work,  then anything it's possible. Here are a few tips to follow.

Find your niche and know your audience

Before you begin writing, it's very important to know who you're attempting to reach while developing a personal brand to increase online impact. And this entails considering more than just basic demographics. Once you've identified your target audience you need to write articles that will appeal to them. There are a lot of bloggers/influencers out there, so you need to ask yourself, what do you bring new to the table and why should people like and follow you.

Grow your online influence

If you decided to start your online journey with a blog don't stop there! Create a name for yourself on multiple media channels (Instagram, Twitter, TikTok) because there you can engage better with your followers and grow more audience. 

Of course, this is just the beginning. You must maintain consistency and determination because building online impact, regardless of your niche, takes time. It isn't something that happens overnight. You have to persist even though times might get hard and create a personal brand targeted at assisting people in solving issues, answering their questions or simply for entertainment. 

Once you're an established blogger/influencer with a large following, you can start working with brands and earning money.

Why is that you might ask? Well, the answer is pretty simple. They can identify better with someone that is closer to their lifestyle and that's exactly what brands want.

Video Content

With various studies estimating that in the future, video content will represent 82% of online content, it's obvious that marketers will continue to use this sort of micro-influencer content to keep the audience coming back for timely and relevant information.

We all know that TikTok has risen to the forefront of user-generated short-form video content as a result of the pandemic and it's now one if not the most used social media platform. Of course, later Instagram developed Reels and there's also Youtube, but none of these compare with the popularity that TikTok has gained among people. 

Staying on top of these trends and the competition will help brands and bloggers/influencers form stronger bonds with their target audiences and win their trust in order to develop and thrive in the upcoming year.
